why is UGC important for CPG brands?
User-generated content (also known as UGC) is original brand-specific content created by normal regular people like you and I...and NOT coming from the brand. Examples of UGC include customer reviews on a website, social media photos or videos, blog posts or even podcasts.

However, MORE SPECIFIC examples of UGC posted on social media can include:
  • Product Unboxings/Hauls/Reviews

  • Recipe Vidoes

  • Talking Head Testimonials

  • Product Demos & How-Tos

  • Faux Podcasts

  • Street Interviews

  • Integrating Product into IG Reel/TikTok trends

These can further be sorted into Organic UGC or Paid UGC (ran as ads on Meta, TikTok, etc.)

1) It's AUTHENTIC and it's human. Consumers nowadays are smart and can sniff out salesy content from a mile away. When consumers see other "consumers" rave about a product genuinely, they'll be more likely to want to try out the product themselves...it's much more relatable and influential - it's like they're just buying because a friend or family told them so.

2) It's honestly pretty cost-effective. Sometimes, consumers will go out of their way to post these UGC and as a brand, you can leverage this "free content" rather than hire an entire production company for content. Plus, as a creator myself, the average price of 1 UGC video can be around $50-$500 which is a good deal when it comes to hiring UGC creators (in my opinion of course).

3) It builds an engaged community. When brands let consumers share their experiences with a product, it opens up a two way street, letting the audience in on the brand's journey as well. This inter
